I have not found any documents on the site relating to buying a gas furnace. We have two salesman coming next week to sell us a gas furnace. What type of questions should we be asking them ? Should we go mid-efficiency or high efficiency gas furnace ? On the phone, the rep from said that we would not need more than the mid-efficiency for our townhouse.
Answer:
I cannot think of a situation in which I would settle for anything but a high efficiency unit. There is no such thing as a low efficiency furnace because nobody would buy it so they call it mid-efficiency. One of the things you should consider though is the exhaust. The high efficiency units normally do not need a chimney and the others sometimes need a chimney liner. This all effects cost and your pocket book in general for the life of the furnace.
