Question:

We have a cedar log home with wide oak plank flooring. In the summer, in just one room, the flooring heaves like a volcano. How can we stop it? This is a large room with a west window.

Answer:

Your problems may very well be more with the joists and/or the fasteners than the flooring itself. You might want to try keeping the drapes on that window drawn a bit more to permit less solar heat in there.
