I got some bad news today about the vent. Was searching the internet and found that the manufacturer. I called there and they had to agree with everything our contractor told us about these vents. He also said they no longer handle or install them as they are nothing but trouble and he agreed that our best bet would be to install a chimney. I then called another firm and he gave me the same information. Sounds like I'm going to be stuck for a chimney.

I still think you should have been informed of that eventuality before you agreed to have the unit installed.
