Question:

I'm putting a room above the garage in our new house, and I was wonderintg, what the best type of insulation would be. This room would serve as an office, and my sons would be in there a lot, and wanted to make sure it was well insulated.

Answer:

Bat type insulation will probably serve you best but if you do it the way these things are normall done, the floor will be cold so try this: About the only system that appears to alleviate this sort of situation is to lower the garage ceiling creating a crawl space. The walls and floor of this crawl space are heavily insulated and the area heated. This makes the space above comparable to the rest of the house as regards heat.
