I recently tried to fix the water/dampness problem at my cottage and as I am finishing the work I have a couple of questions. My cottage is on piers on bedrock. In the areas between the bedrock pieces I have tiled and filled with 3/4 crushed granite. I then have skirted the crawl space using pressure tread 2x4 framing to near ground level (the stone). On the outside of the frame I have installed 2 inch blue foundation grade rigid foam. The foam is either scribed to the rock and/or embedded in at least 6 inches of crushed stone. I have also installed a foundation vent in each 10 foot section (cottage is 24x48). The ground in covered with heavy plastic stapled and taped.
Answer:
That should do about as much as you're going to do for it. There should be no need to do any more if humidity is your only problem.
