WE CANNOT BLOW INSULATION IN THE WALLS AS THERE IN ONLY BRICK AND LATH AND PLASTER. WE RENOVATED THE EAST WALL, AND REMOVED OLD STAIRCASE AND CLOSET. THAT IS HOW WE KNOW THERE IS NO SPACE BETWEEN THE BRICK AND PLASTER, SAVE, WOULD YOU BELIEVE NEWSPAPER INSULATION, (SINGLE SHEETS)..THUS,WITHOUT COMPLETELY RENOVTING THE WEST WALL, BEAUTIFUL OLD CEILING HIGH CABINETS, ETC, WE THOUGHT THE SOLUTION WOULD BE TO APPLY NEW SIDING AND INSULATION ON THE EXTERIOR WALLS. ARE WE WRONG?
Answer:
You are by no means wrong but I think I'd rather add insulation on the inside even if it meant framing and losing 5" along the whole perimeter of the house than to completely do away with what the exterior has to offer now and down the road when you might want to sell.
