Top > Insulation > Closet

Question:

My project involves relining an upstairs closet with aromatic cedar. Should I leave a small space at the bottom of the insulation (at the closet floor) as you recommend for basements? Do I need to do anything else for the moisture problem or did I aggravate the situation by removing the vapour barrier and insulation on the inside thereby exposing the inside of this outer layer of wallboard to a cold surface.

Answer:

You leave no space at the bottom because this is part of the living cavity of the house and you didn't do anything wrong if you re-assembled everything but I would certainly put up 1/2" drywall before introducing the cedar strips. More important than almost anything is that insulation be continuous and that there be only one sheet of vapour barrier and that it, also, be continuous.
