Question:

My house sits on a crawl space that has a 6 mil vapor barrier already. I asked the builder to insulate the floors, but he said he won't do it would trap moisture under the hardwood floors, thus warping the floor. I have other friends with a similar style house and their floors are insulated and they appear to have no problems. What are my insulating options to prevent the cold floors in the winter?

Answer:

Don't lose that builder! He knows what he's doing. You have very few options and about the only logical one is to insulate the walls of the crawl space and then install vapour barrier on both the walls and floor to keep moisture down.
