Question:

I have a round cottage with a dome roof. The dome is formed by triangles in about 4' sections. One up right the next inverted, each corse on a slight angle forming the dome. The triangles are made of 2x4. The roof has no over hang. I can not put a drop cieling as the cottage has a loft. How can I vent this as each triangle would not vent to the next? I thought of strapping the sections with 1x2 and cutting v grooves in the strapping to allow air flow. I would then put vents around the lower roof and turbine on top. Would this work, as my air would be between the poly and the insulation
instead of above the insulation.I would also have the problem of the insulation being right against the vents.

Answer:

Air gaps between insulation and VB are invitations to condensation and that is going to be even more pronounced because of a less than ideal ventilation system. This means that if you want to insulate, you'll probably use the system you describe because its as good as things get but, you must drop the whole thing so the air gap is between insulation and trangles framing. You should plan on losing almost a foot of height.
