I am currently closing in an existing porch. It has about 4 feet of space under the floor. I heard part of your comments on this situation last week but wasn't able to get it all. My question is should I insulate under the floor boards as well as putting insulation around the perimeter. I plan to eventually heat this room.

I would never insulate the floor if I could get away with it and in your case, 4 ft. dictates that you can get away with not doing it.
