I just wanted to get your advice on insulating my new garage, I live in Alberta, and built a 26x24 garage, I wanted to know if using R12 for walls and Attic would be good, I dont plan on doing many things in the winter out there, but you never know, and I will be drywalling it as well.
Answer:
If your studs are 2X4, R-12 (R-20 if they're 2X6) should do in the walls but it is very little more costly to go R-40 in the attic than it would be to do R-12. For those few times that you use is in winter, you'll find it worthwhile. Don't forget to vent the attic no matter what you use.
