Question:

I can detect a strong draft behind the light fixtures and the thermostat control for the furnace on particularly windy days, which in turn throws off the operation of the furnace. We insulated the light switch and put some insulation in the hole behind the thermostat which has helped but is this indicative of another insulation problem and should I have them investigate it as well?

Answer:

This is not so much an insulation question as a sealing question. The thermostat should be on an interior wall so no matter the weather, it shouldn't be felt there. I very much doubt that you'll get far with the builder on this but you might do the same number on all fixtures as you did on the light switch.
