Question:

I recently removed a pot light from my basement stippled ceilling and installed two new ceilling lights on either side for better light. I have patched the hole where the old light was but it is smooth in finish as opposed to stippled. The area is about 2'x2'. Is there an easy way to replicate the stipple effect to cover the patched area.

Answer:

Not really. To give you a properly finished ceiling in that area, you'll end up re-texturing the whole ceiling because it is all but out of the question to duplicate the density that exists. At the same time, it is not all that difficult to spray a new, even coat over the whole thing.
