Question:

I am a new home owner (for 18 months). I was told that it is important to maintain a propriate humidity level in the house. How would I know whether our current humidity level is good or not? Do I need a meter or something? I do noticed recently a lot of cracks with most of the inside connections(due to broken seals glues). I did not notice that last winter ? What's the casue of that? Do I need to do something about it?

Answer:

You shouldn't need to do a whole lot about it but you can buy a humidistat and set it to 35% atmospheric humidity. If it doesn't get there, you can add with a 'flo thru' humidifier on the furnace or some other way.
