Question:

Some weeks ago you discussed how to secure a tub surround so that it stays stuck on the drywall. You mentioned something about "channel somethingorother" that worked for you at your cottage. What is this and how is it used with the surround?

Answer:

This is a chanel-shaped strip half inch wide and half inch deep. It comes in lengths up to ten feet I believe and you attach it to the wall making sure it covers the seam with a good anchoring system so there is no chance of it moving. You do this after you seal the joints of the tub enclosure with silicone caulking. I put the screws in every 15 to 15 inches and its been working well for about ten years now.
