Question:

I recently had a bath fan installed by an electrician and was planning on venting to the soffit area. I was told that it would be better to vent through the roof, due to moisture problems with venting in a downward manner. Is this true. I would prefer to vent to the soffit area as it is much easier for me.

Answer:

If you vent toward the soffit area you'll have more problems than you know what to do with. I see no reason to vent through the roof if you can vent through (NOT TOWARD) the soffit. Hve you ever seen soffits with about three hundred pounds of ice build-up in a four-foot length? You don't want to.
