Question:

I am renovating one of the bathroom in my house and the person installing the tiles is telling me that I need a border to join the tiles at the opening with the tiles that will be lay out on the outside and top walls. I have never seen borders in the bathroom, my previous tiles installed the two tiles join together and put the grout but I don't know if he required to cut the tiles at an specific angle.

Answer:

One of the nice things about tiles is that you don't need a boarder. You can add one if you like but there is no need for it. The job can even be started either at the top or the bottom and then the last row can be cut any way you want because the rough edge will be covewred either by grout (top) or the bottom (silicone caulking with a fungicide).

In the interests of retaining credibility that I worked several decades to establish and in fairness to all, I don’t comment on various (building, electrical, plumbing) codes, brand-specific products, recommend prices, people nor companies for various projects.

Remember, even if you don’t do your own work around the house have to hire someone, you put yourself at a great advantage when you can intelligently discuss a project with the various trades people.
