Water has been leaking behind the tiles in my tub enclosure and have ruined the wall. This needs to be replaced, as does the floor due to discolouration from the water damage. It was suggested I replace the tub at the same time since it is rusting. What would be my best options if I am planning on selling my house in a few years to keep my costs low, but make it more marketable. Also, what would be a good estimate for this work (in Ottawa, ON)?
Answer:
If the tub is old and the colour no longer popular, you're looking at the ideal opportunity to replace it. If, on the other hand, the colour is OK, you'll probably spend about the same amount of money getting it re-glazed as you would getting it replaced and you wouldn't have the messy construction site to deal with. I do not get into costs on these things because they vary too much depending on access, age, etc.
