Question:

We intend to finish the basement and install underpad and carpeting throughout the addition. I have heard that it is necessary to wait a year or two before laying carpet over new concrete in order to allow enough time for the concrete to dry. Otherwise perhaps the carpet could be damaged by moisture. Your comments would be appreciated.

Answer:

I like to wait at least two seasons before doing anything to new concrete because of the moisture factor.
