Brickwork at two chimney caps has crumbled and is breaking away. Where might I find competent advice and urgent estimates for repair?
Answer:
It isn't really that urgent. You can replace the mortar, mixed really stiff. You'll have to take out all the old mortar first though. If you can replace the offending brick(s)this is the time to do it and then you can replace the cap - this last part is all but a necessity but if the chimney is old enough to have the old, imperially measured bricks you might be better of to do some searching and get the same size as replacement.
