I've just knocked down an interior wall in my house to the exposed brick. what can I use to clean the brick surface. Is there some kind of solution that is safe to use indoors.

You'll probably be sand blasting it and that is equipment you rent locally. Cleaning it after that can be done with any masonry cleaner.
