Question:

I recently installed a 100 foot long (wire with vinyl coating; 8" wheels)long clothesline stretching between the house wall and a tree. The tree-end is quite high, so that clothes will hang well clear of the ground. The problem is that when you reel the line in or out it spins, twirling clothes around the line. Is there something I can do to correct the problem? As it is, the line isn't of much use!

Answer:

The reel at the tree end has a frame and the bottom bracket of that frame has lots of room to tie a scrap piece of clothes line wire to. This wire can then be attached to the tree about three or four feet down. That will keep it from tangling. The frame at the bottom may even have provision for such a tie-off.
