Question:

I want to build a wall to separate a space and create a small room. Within that wall I need a door and I'd like to build in book shelves into the wall. Question #1 is there an easy way of building this wall with built-in shelves? Question #2 the floor is carpeted. Do I need to remove a strip of carpet or can I just build on top of it?

Answer:

If you visit a showroom where they specialize in shelves, they'll show you all kinds of units with doors, shelves and a number of other inovations. I'd take the carpet off but it is not an absolute necessity. By the way, just because you visit the showroom doesn't mean you have to buy anything there. This is certainly within the average DIY-er's abilities.
