Question:

I have a sunroom at the back of my newly acquired house. There are two doors which swing inward, although one is meant to be locked in a stationary position while the other acts as the door to be used. I recently installed hardwood. As the final application of urethane was literally being put on, a driving rain came in on the hinged side of the door. Some buckling of the hardwood occurred which was minor. The u-shaped rubber strip attached to the underside of the door was subsequently replaced but the same thing occurred during the next rainfall. With respect to the leakage, do you have any suggestions as to what to do? We simply cannot figure out how the rain is making its way in.

Answer:

The leaking will eventually turn the harwood black and then, in time, it will rot. You might consider attaching a caulked stip of bent aluminum to the door so run-off hits it and is directed outward. Short of that, you'll be removing the sill and giving it a greater tilt to the outside.

In the interests of retaining credibility and in fairness to all, I cannot recommend prices, people nor companies for various projects.
