Question:

I'd like to cut and install crown moulding myself. I have a mitre saw, but I don't know how to cut the corners. I've tried setting the saw at ab45degree angle, but the pieces don't meet properly. I also have a few corners that are not 45's. How do you measure the angle?

Answer:

You'll need a compound mitre saw and for the corners that don't come to 90-degrees, you'll have to determine (with a sliding T square) what the actual angle is and then its just a simple matter of disecting it like you learned in grade7 or 8.
