I have to replace a small retaining wall of stone and mortar vintage 1964 that's finally collapsed from old age and moisture. It runs the full length of my sloped approx 25' driveway. I also need to rest interlock that's heaved at my entrance. How do I know how much this job is worth when I have quotes starting at 9600 and going all the way to 14,600. I'm waiting to see one more quote this weekend and I'm really perplexed about what to do.

The secret here has to do with how deep the footings are going be (they have to go beyond the frost line) and how deep the excavation for the interlock goes (at least twenty inches). After that, it's matter of workmanship.
