My husband and I have created a desktop which weighs approximately 81 pounds. We drilled holes into the outer corners of the desktop and will suspend it from the wall with eye bolts (secured in the wall and the desktop corners), two metal rings (secured to the eye bolts in the wall), S-hooks (attached to the eye bolts in the desk) and chain. The desktop is also secured to the wall underneath with screws. We have not mounted the desk yet for fear that the wall will cave in. Since the eyebolts will be secured to two studs, do we have anything to worry about? The wall we are securing it to is partially interior and partially exterior wall.

This is a system I used when the kids were small. I also went a step farther and glued a sheet of chalk board to the bottom of it. The desk top was hinged so they could use it as a desk or fold it up, secure it and then make full use of the chalk board. The ledge holding chalk and brush had a 2" front lip to keep them from falling when the desk was lowered.
