we have a mud room with a concrete floor ,poorly insulated and no heat source.I would like this to be the place where we hang all of our wet coats and boots in the winter, rather than my kitchen(I have 5 kids). Can I heat this space (16X10)with a space heater.I've seen a type that seemed powerfull and they claimed didn't use much electricity.
Answer:
Any electrical appliance that will heat that large an area on a concrete floor will eat up a lot of electricity so be prepared if that's the route you intend to go. I'd rather put in a 1KW, fan-type electrical heater that comes with its own thermostat. To help with the things that would normally sit on the floor (boots) put them up on boot racks so air can circulate around them and they're off the cold concrete.

In the interests of retaining credibility and in fairness to all, I cannot recommend prices, people nor companies for various projects.
Remember, even if you don’t do your own work around the house have to hire someone, you put yourself at a great advantage when you can intelligently discuss a project with the various trades people.
