We are building a sauna in our basement. One of the sauna's walls will be outside. We would like to know what kind of insulation can and needs to be used. Also, is a vapour barrier needed?
Answer:
The heated side of the insulation always needs a vapour barrier. For something as complex as a sauna wall, you might want to use high density rigid foam cut very precisely to fit. Rigid foam though, is its own VB once it is an inch-and-a-half or thicker so you would not want to add another layer.
