Question:

Our bungalow has a serious problem with moisture. We have two bedrooms, a bath, a kitchen, living and dining rooms on main floor. Our basement is open and we use a wood stove for extra heat. When I say a problem with moisture I mean the water runs down our windows. Our house is 43 years old and we have baseboard electric heat.

Answer:

Upper hallways over stairs lend themselves ideally to the installation of a large-diameter ceiling fan that will positively impact upon both winter heating and summer cooling costs. This fan could be a "Hugger" installed in a way that the wall switch controls only the light component and the fan is permitted to run at all times and year 'round at slow speed. Particularly with baseboard electrical resistance heaters, this system should be given full consideration.
