Question:

Another compressed wood siding question. I'm replacing this siding with vinyl siding. There is presently black fibre board (black joe) under the present siding. The house is a high ranch with the upper level 2*6 studs on 2 foot centres and the lower level on 16" centres. Is 2 foot centres close enough for nailing the vinyl (if I can find the studs) or should I replace the fibre board with plywood or chipboard? I am also replacing most windows and putting house wrap on.

Answer:

Two-foot O.C. is plenty close enough for nailing.
