Question:

As for my driveway, when the second layer was applied, the ashphalt and the conrcrete garage floor were level and smooth, also there was no gap in between them. Now they've separated, and one's higher than the other. I'm worried that this separation will continue to happen and I'll end up with a large gap between garage floor and driveway. Also, I'm worried about water getting in there, and who knows what kind of damage that may do to my driveway. My wife is really getting on me about this problem. Can you assure me that this will be fine if I leave it as is?

Answer:

I can assure you of nothing - not even that the sun will set this evening or that it will rise again tomorrow! Experience tells me though, that you may have to introduce a bead of caulking compound to that gap to keep water out of it but even that, you will not be able to do credibly until the spring.
