Question:

I have white aluminum siding on my 2 story house that is about 27 years old. The siding paint is starting to come off making the siding look dirty and dark grey-black in areas. If I wish to improve the look of the house do I need to replace all of this siding or can I have a professional painter simply repaint it. If it is painted how long will it last. What is your recommendation.

Answer:

The siding can certainly be painted and it will last anything up to about five years. If your thoughts include replacing, you might consider vinyl because although it tends to fade a bit with years of service, it is quite permanent and now that it's ultra violet stable, it won't be as prone to damage.
