Question:

Listen to your show most Saturday mornings here in Kingston, Ontario on 960 am. Have obtained many helpful tips but have one small problem. We have white (al) eaves trough and we have a multitude of grey-like stains. I presume it is the tar from the roof shingles mixing with the rain water. Is there a way to clean them. We have tried soap and water and also tsp cleaner.

Answer:

Shingle residue will not mix with water because of the oil content so I have a feeling this is more a mould situation than a compound stain. A bit of diluted bleach should be tried before you go any further.
