We are in the process of preparing our house to sell it. My major concern at this point is that the ceilings upstairs which are painted with stucco ar all peeling and there are large patches where it is missing altogether. I do not believe that there is a moisture problem as such as there are no water stains under the stucco. We think it originated from the lack of whirly gig on the roof. I am not sure how long the house went without one before we moved in. The stucco had started to peel a little even before we moved in, but has worsened since. How do we go about making this more asthetically pleasing or fixing it before putting our house on the market? I fear that it may be an extremely large & messy project.
You're right about the mess. Very likely the ceiling was not primed nor painted before the texture was applied so it had nothing to adhere to - drywall is not good enough. To rectify this you'll take it all off (MESSY!) and then make sure everything is very dry before you prime and paint before you put more texture on it.
