Top > Plaster & Drywall > Garage

Question:

I own a home built in the early 60's with an attached garage. The bottom three feet of the walls consists of Blocks 3 courses and plaster which runs from floor to ceiling. The remainder of the wall is insulated wood with brick on the outside. The problem is the plaster on the blocks keeps falling off and looks terrible. What would you recommend for a fix to make it look proper I really didn't want to expose the 3 courses of blocks permanately as it would not look proper and drywall does not line up with the old plaster.

Answer:

You can fir out the drywall to line it up with the plaster or you can cut out the plaster to the level you want and use wood in waynscotting fashion. The latter would be a much better way to go and it would also withstand much more abuse.
