Top > Plaster & Drywall > Short Cuts

Question:

I'm installing a drop ceiling and need to find the wall studs to nail the wall ledge. Basement wall not necessarily 32" centre. Electronic finders not very useful.

Answer:

Unless your walls are covered with plaster, in which case you don't have to find the studs because the lathe will hold whatever you want, try pulling an electric razor along the wall. When the pitch of the sound changes, you're over a stud.
