Question:

We have a Side-split house build in 1966, We purchased it in 93, had no moisture on the wall, until Dec 25th 2002 and again on Jan.18,2003. Its on the wall in the stairway leading up to the bedrooms, the wall is right in the center of the house, center wall of the two stairways. We did some renos last year, painting and triming. but no opening up of walls. Any ideas and a solutions.

Answer:

Upi may have to open up that wall becasue I have a feeling you might have some plumbing in there. One of the solder joints may have given up and that is something you should be addressing as soon as you can. Other than that, it could only come from the attic but that is easier (and less messy) to track down.
