My home was build in 1965, the problem is with the Drain pipe for the washing machine, (located in basement). We have lived in this house for 17 years. About, every 1 1/2 to 2 years we have to have a plumber come out and unclog this drain, becuase the water from the washer will splash back up. This past week we had a plumber come out to do this, but he was unable to unclog the drain. He still charged me 115.00 which is the rate for uncloging a drain, which he did not do. His suggestion to us was to run the washer hose over to the sump pump. I do not think that this is a solution to our problem. Should I call a different plumber and get a second opinion.
Answer:
With today's technology, there shouldn't be a residential drain line of that age that cannot be unblocked. If this is the same plumber you used in the past, I'd want to call his boss and if it's a one-man operation I'd seek legal advise.
