Question:

I bought a new townhouse in 1998 (three storey two bathrooms)recently I've noticed that when any of the taps are turned on and then off, the float in the upstairs toilet moves up and down and the pipes make a clunking sound. Is this common, and how do I fix it?

Answer:

This is a matter of water pressure and could very well originate at the main shut-off valve that is not necessarily in your unit.
