Question:

My mother has this in her townhouse with the copper elbows. Since they no longer make this product because of the breakage and lawsuits, should I change the plumbing? I could probably do it myself.

Answer:

If you know how its done and you know also that it is a danger, by all means make some changes. You'll have to refer to your corporation rules to ensure that you are permitted to undertake such a project because no matter how you slice it, you will be tying into common element plumbing somewhere along the line.
