Question:

Ren, I live in a 3 bedroom 2 story house (approx 1500 sq ft) with 2.5 baths. My 2 toilets on the upper floor seem to get clogged every few weeks or so. There is nothing out of the ordinary being discarded and I make it a point to ensure that only toilet paper is flushed. I've changed the wax rings, however, the problems still persist. Should I assume there is a clog somewhere in the pipe that leads to the basement?

Answer:

I'd take off the toilet again and try reverse flushing it with a garden hose. Line the bottom of the tub before you put in there or you'll be replacing the tub next. I once saw a tennis ball stuck in there and the whole thing was replaced only to find that when it was stored upside down, the ball surface dried out and it fell onto the shelf.
