Question:

I have a conventional weeping bed and know you can't create a skating rink over top of it by flooding it, as this would freeze the entire leaching bed. I have heard though, that if you used a plastic liner over top of the bed to contain the water in, this would protect the bed from freezing. Is this true or false?

Answer:

If you try anything other than Mother Nature's snow insulation you probably will stop flushing within a few days and start again sometime in July. A plastic liner has no insulation value and you can count on things freezing up underneath it.
