Question:
i'm trying to fix a leaky bathroom bathtub faucet. it leaks and i'm trying to remove the faucet to get at what i believe is the washer which is causing the leaks. I take off the panal that would give me access to the faucet and i see the water pipes go up into a piece of concrete. I was told that there should be a sink behind the faucet but it seems it's encased in concrete. This is the way the house was made a long time ago, it was built in the late 1950's and i want to fix it so i can sell it ( it's located in Montreal and i'm moving to ottawa ) so i'm trying to get it in better condition.
Answer:
If its the washer, you take off the handle of the faucet and then yu remove the large nut before threading the stem out. Make sure all the water to this area is turned off first because you are removing the stopper. Once the stem is out, you see the offending washer held to the end of it with a small brass screw. Take the stem and old washer with you when you go shopping for the new washer. There should be no need to remove any panel.
