Our bedroom bathroom sink has odors coming from it and it also gurgles- I shave in this sink. How can I remove the odor and what is the problem?

The problem has to do with a build-up of shaving soap, etc. etc. in the overflow trough that leads from the bottom of the sink to the hole under the inner front lip of the sink. You remove the drainage line under the sink, you block drain from underneath with something solid and then pour enough chlorine bleach into the sink to come about half way up in it. This should loosen the build-up and when you pull the plug from the drain, the bucket should catch stuff you didn't think would come off your face with a mere razor.
