Since we replaced the foot valve on the water pump we have been experiencing the "rotten egg" smell (sulpher?) in the hot water. I have adjusted the softener hard water level to the maximum (35) and have cleaned the venturi on the system as well as running extra manual regenerations. I have also "sucked up" javex through the water lines but the smell returns. Is there an additive that can be added to the salt to eliminate the smell?
Answer:
I think the annode in the hot water tank has seen its day and that may well mean getting a new tank.
