We have a water softener in our new house and I'd like to know if it's OK for the water softener to discharge in to the septic system. Would this water affect the workings of the septic system. Where else should the softener discharge be directed to?
Answer:
In most jurisdictions that is where the water has to go and yes, it does have a negative impact on the system. You'll probably have to get in touch with your supplier and there might be something that will be easier on the whole system.
