I have a problem with water pressure in the house. When I take a shower, there is very little pressure until the pump kicks in but when I had a plumber in not long ago, when my pump wouldn't shut off, he said there may have been dirt in my line. He suggested having it taken in and cleaned. I have a tub-water circulating pump that is 8 years old. Will taking my pump apart and having it sent off to be cleaned help the pressure problem?

I don't see how the pump has anything to do with pressure you're depending on. Once pressure builds up, the tank takes over and the regulator tells the pump when to turn on again. You might ask another plumber to come in and verify that you have one third air and two thirds water in the tank. If the tank is water logged, full of water, pressure mounts when the pump turns on and then the pump doesn't turn off until you close the tap. You should be able to think back a few days or weeks when water pressure would surge and then drop off only to surge again within a few seconds. If that's the case, its a simple matter of the tank being water logged.
