There is a sewer odour that comes from the kitchen sink, only when we run the hot water it seems. As of late, the dishwasher connected to the same pipes is not draining properly either. The kitchen sink drains fine however. Maybe these two are unrelated, but the sewer odour in the kitchen is becoming annoying and embarrassing. Any thoughts?

Check for this odour after a toilet has been flushed in the house. I'm taking for granted that the sink is a double. It would appear that one of the toilets is starved for air and is drawing water out of the trap under the sink and when you run the water into the sink beside it, the sewer gasses (lighter than air) are pushed up with greater force.
