Do you have any details on how to build a dry well? I have one that is 30 years old and it may need to be re-built.
Answer:
You have to be careful with this one becuase in many jurisidctions drywells are now quite illegal and with good cause. They were meant to handle only 'grey' water and in some cases ended up being used for solid waste. I have seen them built in the past - some according to local bylaws and others not. There is a lot of information on how to build them and you should be able to find that on the www. The most effective I saw was to excavate a hole not less than ten feet deep and ten to twelve feet in diameter, throw in an old, small automobile body and fill it with boulders liberally mixed with loosely compacted gravel, lead a 2" line underground from inside it to a common point in the house floor and then fill the hole to about eight inches higher than the top of the automobile body with loosely compacted gravel and then soil.
In the interests of retaining credibility and in fairness to all, I cannot recommend prices, people nor companies for various projects.
Remember, even if you don’t do your own work around the house have to hire someone, you put yourself at a great advantage when you can intelligently discuss a project with the various trades people.
